FAQ

1.  Can I use Everwine to preserve sparkling wine / Champagne / Prosecco?
No. Everwine is not intended for use with sparkling wines and may result in a damaged system and loss of wine.
2.  Why is the Everwine system only to be used with standard format 750ml wine bottles?
Everwine will only expand to fit most standard shapes of 750ml wine bottles and will rupture when used with larger wine bottles. Smaller wine bottles are too short which may puncture the expandable envelope.
3.  Should the wine bottle foil / capsule be removed?
Yes! It is slightly better to use a foil cutter versus removing the entire wine foil / capsule. Also, pulling a cork through the foil leaves a jagged mess that will cause the system to leak.
4.  What's the best way to reinstall the bottle seal?
Place the cork on a flat surface with the expander pointing up. As you place the bottle seal over the tip of the expander, 4 circles on the seal should face up towards you before reinstalling it. With two chopsticks, carefully push the seal down into the white recess of the cork body.
5.  How do I care for an Everwine cork?
Between uses, rinse under a faucet with warm water then allow to dry away from sunlight and heat. Place the cork in the provided storage pouch until needed.
6.  Can the black rubber layer be washed?
(Do not attempt to remove the rubber layer from the cork) Yes, carefully wash the rubber layer by hand with perfume-free, mild dish detergent. First, wash your hands then wash the rubber layer between your finger and thumb with less than a drop of detergent being careful not to scratch or puncture the rubber. Rinse it thoroughly under warm water but don't towel dry. Allow to air-dry away from sunlight and heat then place the cork in the storage pouch until needed.
7.  I'm allergic to latex rubber. Is Everwine safe for me to use?
Everwine contains latex rubber! Consult a medical professional before handling the Everwine system or drinking wine stored with the system.
8.  Is an Everwine system dishwasher safe?
No, it is not dishwasher safe.
9.  Will an Everwine-corked wine bottle fit in my wine rack / refrigerator / etc?
Yes, it should fit!  An Everwine cork adds less than 2/3in (15mm) to the height of a wine bottle.
10.  Does Everwine leak if stored on its side?
No, Everwine won't leak when stored horizontally.
11.  There's an air bubble inside the bottle where there wasn't before. Is this normal?
It is normal for a thumb-sized bubble to accumulate shortly after an Everwine cork is installed.
12.  I unscrewed Everwine but it seems to be stuck in the neck of the bottle. Help?
Grip Everwine between your thumb and middle finger. Then press and hold the deflator button on top of the spout with your index finger while gently rocking the cork left-to-right. At the same time lightly lift up on Everwine and the "walking" motion will unstick it from the bottle. Check out timestamp 02:34 in the video above.
13.  How do I unbunch the black rubber layer and/or I can see clear plastic at the tip?
With clean hands, hold the black layer nearest the cap end between your fingers. Then with your other hand, gently slide the black layer towards the tip so it unbunches and the plastic returns inside.
14.  When storing an Everwine-corked wine bottle, is it better to leave the contents pressurized or depressurized?
We recommend depressurizing the wine contents using the deflator button on top of the spout.
15.  The black rubber layer looks stretched. What can be done about this?
First, wash your hands with perfume free soap. Then, depress the deflator button while rinsing the black rubber layer with warm water and squeezing the stretched areas between your fingers. Allow Everwine to thoroughly dry away from sunlight and heat before returning to its storage pouch.
16.  Can I carry a wine bottle by holding on to Everwine?
Everwine is not designed as a carry handle. It's best to grip the wine bottle.
17.  Why is wine dripping down the outside of the wine bottle?
First, check if there's wine foil/capsule preventing Everwine from sealing with the wine bottle opening. Second, Everwine may not be securely sealed onto the wine bottle so try further tightening the screw collar.
18. Does the Everwine System attach to screw-top wines?
Not at the moment.
